About

A drafting library that takes the page seriously

GridCraft began with a frustration that every working designer recognises: searching for "isometric paper" online and finding a hundred near-identical pages, none of which would actually print at the correct scale. Spacing was approximate. Ratios drifted. Grids that claimed to be 1:50 turned out to be 1:53 once they came off the printer. Drawings done on those sheets were quietly wrong.

This library exists to fix that. Every template here is generated from real measurements - ISO 216 paper sizes, ISO 5455 preferred scales, ANSI Y14.1 conventions, the architectural and engineering scale ratios that have been in continuous use across European and North American practice for the better part of a century. A 1:50 sheet is genuinely 1:50 when it leaves your printer. A 5 mm cell is genuinely 5 mm. A cabinet projection genuinely keeps its frontal face true-shape.

What's in the catalogue

48 distinct grid variants across 14 projection families, six paper sizes (A4, A3, A2 from the ISO family; Letter, Legal, Tabloid from the ANSI loose family), portrait and landscape orientation for every combination - 576 templates in total. Isometric, axonometric, perspective, cross-section, pre-scaled architect grids, polar plots, hexagonal lattices, knitting charts, calligraphy guides, music staves, semi-log and log-log paper, dot grids and sequential storyboard formats.

Each template comes with a description of where designers reach for it, the standards lineage that informs the format, and a short history of how the grid came into common use. The history isn't filler - knowing that cabinet projection takes its name from 18th-century French furniture makers, or that 1/4" = 1'-0" plans have been the U.S. residential standard since before metrication was attempted, helps you reach for the right sheet when the deadline is short.

Who it's for

Architects, technical illustrators, industrial designers, set designers, civil and mechanical engineers, knitters, calligraphers, game designers, students of any of the above. Anyone who has ever tried to draft on consumer-printer A4 and wished the grid was actually trustworthy. Browse the curated profession hubs for ready-made collections.

What it isn't

GridCraft is not an attempt to replace a CAD package. It is not a clip-art library. It is not a paid service with a free trial. It is a server-rendered library of printable templates, calibrated to standards and free to use without a log-in, an email gate, or a watermark.

Print at 100% scale, sketch with confidence, and trust the page.
